Allergy is a disease in which the body responds with unusual sensitivity to a particular substance or substances. These substances, which are usually proteins, called antigens. They stimulate the body, antibodies that destroy or weaken them to produce the invading antigens. In some cases, when an antibody reacts with an antigen, which is the organic compound histamine released from special cells called mast cells. There is an excess of histamine that results in allergy symptoms.
